Eye-Catching Advertisements

These days our world is filled with different advertisements. It feels sometimes like everywhere you look there's a new ad. So many platforms on social media and for streaming feature advertisements. So, with this in mind, sometimes it's tough to cut through the noise and really catch someone's eye with an ad. Today, I'm going to be looking at some advertisements that are eye-catching and really stand out.

This first ad is an advertisement that aired on tv and streaming platforms. It's a part of a series of ads that showcase 'the real cost of vaping'. The advertisement showcases kids being infected by some sort of disease and it's spreading throughout the school. It almost poses it like some sort of science fiction movie. I think the reason why this ad stands out is because the advertisers tried to channel their audience. They know science fiction movies are popular amongst teens, as well as vaping, so they used an analogy to make them aware of how deadly vaping is, despite how popular it is.

During another surge in Black Lives Matter protests

Nike took a firm stance on the issue by sponsoring Colin Kaepernik and featuring him in their advertisement. I think this ad really stood out because it showed Nike cared about a social issue and supports athletes doing the same, despite the critiques they've gotten in the past for bringing 'politics' into sports. I understand that this advertisement isn't seen as a good one to many people because of the divisiveness of Colin Kaepernik's peaceful protesting by taking a knee. However, I think this ad was well received by many and really showcased the ethics of the Nike brand. It combined the love of sports with a greater meaning and that's why I think it's really eye-catching

The next commercial is an ad for Genesis's first SUV featuring Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. The ad showcases John and Chrissy telling a party of guests that old luxury is out and new luxury is in. I thought this commercial stood out not only for its star power but also for its sense of humor and personality. Legend and Teigen tend to always be joking around online, so it makes sense for an ad featuring them to be light hearted and funny.

Overall, I think what makes an advertisement stands out is it needs to have some kind of unique factor to grab someone's attention. This can be done by using a celebrity, for example, or just having some really unique elements in the ad. I feel all three of these advertisements were eye-catching and stood out due to the unique factors they featured in their ad, like celebrity guests, or graphics.
